Francesco Balbo was born in Asti in 1983 and studied architecture at the Polytechnic University of Turin. A child of art, his father Giulio was a well-known Brutalist architect from Piedmont, but also a versatile artist and brilliant sculptor, who left a legacy of many artistic and architectural works. Francis became passionate about Art from an early age. His father's genes and chromosomes found fertile soil and immediately sprouted, ready to give vent to the creation of: sculptures, bas-reliefs and decorative and furniture elements in bronze, iron, steel, copper, wood and painted with enamels and natural colors. He also creates murals and wall installations. He uses laser-cut, oxidized, rusted elements. His first exhibitions are in his region, Piedmont (in 2020 and 2021 he exhibits in the exhibition “Landscape is art” in Vinchio (AT). This is followed by his first solo exhibition at Gallery Malocello in Varazze (Liguria), which gets great participation and arouses the interest of the public and critics. The Piero Della Francesca Art Gallery, which has always been attentive to new talent and known for its activity in the field of sculpture, discovered him in the summer of 2021 and began representing him in December of the same year. His sculptural works, of considerable charm and artistic quality but at the same time with low quotations, begin to be acquired by contemporary art collectors, particularly foreigners. Francesco Balbo lives and works in Asti.
