RICCARDO GUSMAROLI
Riccardo Gusmaroli was born in Verona in 1963. Internationally known for his works made with collages of paper boats applied on canvas in such a way as to ‘draw’ shapes of various kinds that evoke, in full compliance with the principles of conceptual art, the ‘journey’ of the psyche, as is evident in the ‘whirlpools’ and ‘maps’, or the arabesque motifs, a tribute to oriental cultures. Gusmaroli is an artist who has been successful since the early 1990s, working with some of the major international galleries, such as Sperone (New York), Bauer (Hamburg), Delauney (Paris), Tega (Milan), Pio Monti (Rome), Studio Raffaelli (Trento) and many others, exhibiting in important museums and public spaces in Italy (Turin, Rome, Milan, Bologna, Arezzo) and abroad (Paris, Monte Carlo, Shanghai, Jerusalem). His works have frequently been juxtaposed with works by great masters of 20th century art, such as Boetti, Salvo, Fabro and other famous contemporary artists, always standing out for his unique language, which remains unmistakable even as it evolves. He lives and works in Milan.
