{"id":286,"count":2,"description":"Marcello Scuffi was born in Tizzana, near Quarrata (Pistoia) in 1948. Self-taught, he has been painting since 1970 and a few years later began to devote himself exclusively to painting. From the beginning he appears in various group exhibitions and numerous solo shows. He achieved international fame-particularly in Belgium, Switzerland and France-and for a time lived and worked in Brussels.\r\nIn his canvases, as well as in his frescoes and watercolors, one paradoxically recognizes a hand unchanged over time, although the works of his early years appear brighter and clearer. An \u201cexponent of modern neo-Italianism,\u201d as Vittorio Sgarbi called him, recalling primitivist languages of our rappel \u00e0 l'ordre, such as Carr\u00e0, Rosai, Morandi, and Casorati, in whose works the subject shifts from landscapes to still lifes.
