Giancarlo Montuschi was born in Faenza in 1952 and his artistic career began when he was still very young. Tuscan by adoption (he has lived and worked in Anghiari since 1976), Montuschi has numerous exhibitions in Italy and abroad to his credit. One can perceive in his work the direct contact with Pop Art breathed in the 1970s and the link with the ceramics of Faenza, the city that gave him birth. Of ceramics in his work, the nostalgia for colour leaks out due to the type of impasto and tonal tones. Painting won him over with the world of fairy tales, medieval bestiaries and then with comic book sagas, in particular that of Flash Gordon. Blue is a colour dear to his heart and the asexual blue figures of conical-hatted Magi in communication with the starry macrocosm stand out in his works like a trademark and recur throughout his production. Today, with the Astro-Pop series, elements from the sci-fi-inspired imagery of the 1930s and 1940s merge into a contemporary landscape borrowed from American cinema. The different outcomes he has arrived at over the course of his 50-year artistic career are today a true, authentic, great wealth. In December 2022, Montuschi began his collaboration with the Galleria d'Arte Piero Della Francesca, a historic contemporary art gallery, which mainly deals with his large-format production, exhibiting works of monumental dimensions such as the 2x2 m and 3x2 m. The following is a reasoned chronology of his life and work as an artist, specifying that it does not list all the exhibitions, but only the most important ones. 1960 At a very young age, he received recognition at prizes painting prizes in Cesena and at the 'Romano Brazzi' in Marina di Ravenna. 1972 He held his first personal exhibition at the Sire Gallery in Faenza. Solo exhibition at the Selearte Gallery, He is present in the Collettiva Tecné, at Libreria Nanni in Bologna. An enchanted world between music and magic with a critical essay by Emidio De Albentiis. 2003 Artegraf publishes the monograph Montuschi-Dipinti 1975-2003, with essays by E. De Albentiis and by M. Venturoli. 2004 Participates in the exhibition organised by the Gallery Loggia of Sansepolcro in its spaces and in those of the Civic Museum on Da de Chirico a Ferroni. The Novecento fra epoche, ipotesi e provocazioni, curated by Giovanni Faccenda and introduced by Vittorio Sgarbi. 2005 Invited by the Republic of Costa Rica to participate in the 51st Venice Biennale in the pavilion of the Italo-Latin American Institute. initiative promoted by the Museum of Italian Contemporary Art in America and the Italian Italo-Latin American Institute in Rome. For the occasion published a catalogue of the artist with excerpts of critical texts by Giuliano Serafini. He produced a sketch for the special box of the Le Tre Marie panettone, one of the many examples of application to industry and craftsmanship of his his artistic work. 2006 He is present in some fifteen exhibitions and fairs in Italy and abroad. In questo anno partecipa a una decine di mostre e fiere, fra queste Hangzhou, Wet Lake, in Cina con Artour e alla Galleria Excalibur di Solcio di Lesa. 2008 Collabora con Riccardo Lorenzi al Calendario Ingram.. E’ presente in molte altre gallerie italiane e in fiere specializzate. 2009 Espone a Pesaro nella prestigiosa sede dell’ AlexanderMuseumPalaceHotel Viene invitato al concorso Arte Limen di Vibo Valenzia aggiudicandosi poi un premio prestigioso Continua la sua presenza alle principali fiere d’arte in Italia e in Europa. 2010 Viene scelto come artista per la realizzazione del drappo in contesa per la storica disfida del Palio della Balestra della città di Sansepolcro. Continua la sua presenza in molte gallerie italiane e in fiere specializzate. 2011 Viene invitato a presentare la sua esperienza d’artista ai: Racconti di Arte Contemporanea - Ciclo di incontri con gli artisti , con una introduzione di Marcello Duranti, al Museo civico di Sansepolcro. 2012 Viene invitato al Secondo festival internazionale dell’Arte, Ambasciata della repubblica Iraq al Vaticano, Roma 2013 Viene invitato alla mostra“Permanenze - Appunti di viaggio e di paesaggio in Turchia” spazio espositivo dell’Ufficio Cultura e Informazioni dell’Ambasciata di Turchia a Roma - curata da Angelo Andriuolo 2014 Giancarlo Montuschi espone alla David Leonardis Gallery Chicago USA.
