MAURO REGGIO

Mauro Reggio was born in Rome in 1971. He graduated with honours from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome in 1993. Since the second half of the 1990s, his work has focused on the urban landscape, from a figurative and modern pictorial perspective, extracting a purified, desert-like vision. As in a simultaneous journey through epochs, centuries and styles, Reggio combines bypasses with classical ruins, Baroque with 20th-century rationalism, archaeology with technology. The monuments of the ancient, modern and post-modern city are thus united by a colour scheme linked to the great Italian tradition of the 20th century, renewed and transformed, however, by reflections on the relationship between painting, photography and the new technologies with which the painter carries out his personal work of selecting perceptive and constructive data. He lives and works in Rocca di Papa.
