GABRIELE BURATTI

Gabriele Buratti, aka Buga, was born in Milan in 1964. Graduated from the Polytechnic in Landscape Architecture, over the years he developed an interest in the physical, anthropic, historical and structural characteristics of the territory that will deeply influence his work of painting, sculpture and photography. His paintings also contain a brand, which brand is not, because it is a real bar code, the same one we find on products, and which mark the production of our time, characterized by a strong consumerism. Well, this brand has become an icon, a sign, a strong image that almost always rotates in our artist's paintings, giving him a strong idea of his art that is not detached from the history of recent years, of that economic and social history that has given Western countries and capitalism accelerated processes. The contrast between nature and urbanization makes Buratti's work unique in the contemporary artistic context and highly relevant for its social message. Buratti has won numerous awards during his career and has been exhibited in Italy and abroad. His works are in important private collections and in 2014 they were chosen to be part of the set design for the award-winning film "Anime nere" by Francesco Munzi. He lives and works in Milan.
